Quadro Janas - From the charm of the North to the allure of the Mediterranean

Dorothee Oberlinger, Lorenzo Cavasanti, Paola Erdas, Lorenz Duftschmid, Bob van Asperen, Elisa Citterio, Dominic Miller and many others will take part in the Festival La Musica e il Vento, which is being hosted, for the third year in a row, by Pantellaria. It is a wide-ranging musical event that hopes to establish an important presence on the international music circuit, as well as creating a new attraction for the tourist industry of the island, confirming its place as a "cultural laboratory" in the middle of the Mediterranean.

Organized by the Association "Amici di Pantelleria", together with the Association "Epicantica", and supported by the Sicilian Region,
this third edition of the Festival coincides with the Grand Tour Sicilia 2006, and offers a particularly wide programme, ranging from early music in the first four events, to jazz and music with ethnic influences. The theme of the voyage, in which curiosity and fascination stimulate the entry into new territories, is the weft of a programme, whose warp develops around the character of different kinds of flute.

Quadro Janas, which is the 'group in residence' at the La Musica e il Vento, will open the Festival with a new programme, devised for this event. This is a voyage that, starting from England, follows the Grand Tour through France, Germany and Italy, which a young gentleman was supposed to take in the 'flamboyant' Europe of the seventeenth century. Research, improvisation, recollection and creativity blend together in interpretations capable of passionate lyricism and breathtaking virtuosity.
In the Italian Summer of Festivals, the group will also appear at another prestigious venue. On August 8th, at the Chiesa Vecchia of Belgirate, Quadro Janas, together with soprano Lia Serafini, present 'Pasar Calles, Pasar Cortes' at the 'Settimane Musicali di Stresa e del Lago Maggiore'. More detailed information can be found at the Festival's website.
